It did set the SES light and the car was surging under light acceleration. You can try cleaning using CRC MAF sensor cleaner. Each time I cleaned it lasted less time than previously before setting the SES. The last time I tried it took only a day and I finally bit the bullet and changed it. Problem solved, car felt like it had another 50 hp.
The P115C code relates to the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor and a reading of air flow that is lower than expected. This means that either that the sensor itself is reading incorrectly or you have an issue with intake system not flowing enough air/leaking after the MAF. There are a few things that can cause this. One of these components is called the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor, and it is perhaps the most crucial element in a car’s electrical fuel injection system. If something were to go wrong, it could result in serious problems. Bad MAF Sensor symptoms include rough idling, loss of power while accelerating, starting trouble, and more. CRC MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor Cleaner: The mass air flow sensor is meant to measure how much air mass is flowing into the engine intake. The ECM uses this information to decide how much fuel must be added to ensure a perfectly balanced air-fuel ratio. With most engines, 14.7:1 is the appropriate ratio. This means the engine utilizes 14.7 pounds of air for every one pound of fuel.1. Disconnect the mass airflow sensor from the electrical connector. While pulling the connector, squeeze the tab on either side of the harness. Make sure you only pull on the connector and not the wires. If your hands slip off the connector, it is good to wear gloves with a rubberized coating. 2.
