The reason you use a 10w or 15w oil is so that it is thin enough at cold temps to properly lubricate. A 15w oil has the same cold cranking viscosity at -20C (-4F) as a 10w oil does at -25C (-13F). So if you never start your bike at temps less than -4 deg F you should be perfectly safe to run the higher weight viscosity (which is what I do).
