After using a 24-70 2.8, 5 years for event shooting I never used it for general purpose shooting. I never felt the zoom range was long enough. A few post up in this thread I posted last year what LensTip said about the 24-105 L II. Its a very good GP lens . So the Original Poster has gone with the Canon f4 24 to 105L ii over the Canon f4 24 to 70L.

Ring USM (Ultrasonic Motor) drives the fast and nearly silent autofocus system. FTM (Full Time Manual) focusing is enabled. The Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM Lens likes to hang out at 105mm. Expect gravity-zooming to occur when the objective end is pointing downward - no zoom lock is provided. I think a walk-around lens spanning wide-angle to short tele is an excellent idea. When I owned a Canon 24-105/4L I didn't think much of its performance at 24mm and often wished it went out a little more than 105mm. Now Tamron has released a 35-150 lens. Has anyone seen a performance comparison between these two?
