If you got multi meter check at windcreen connectors first with engine running , heated screen switch on, if nothing there then at fuses in so you can check for live both sides of fuse, may be difficult depending on fuse type, orpull fuse out and check for live. turn the engine on and let the screen try to turn on, too; turn the engine off; go out of the vehicle and close the door; lock the doors with your fob, activate the alarm, or at least close the central lock; wait for 1-2 minutes; unlock the doors and get into the car; turn on the engine and try turning on the display.
The fault isn't like a computer malfunction with bits of the display not working correctly. It is more like power failure with the whole console failing; instruments going to zero position all indicator lights going off (such as dip beam indicator) the centre read-out panel going blank and the back-light (with exterior lights switched on) also going off.
